Friendship Walk Committee Update

2024 March 25

Hi everyone!

There are 18 days to the Friendship Walk and we have a lot of activities this week!

Summary

Note: Due to a conflict with our Golden Gate Park site visit this Wednesday, we will not be having our Friendship Walk Committee meeting Wednesday evening. Updates for this week:

Golden Gate Park Site Visit

Let's do a Golden Gate Park site visit this Wednesday. We'll navigate the Music Concourse together to go over the event layout plans and to identify potential issues and challenges that we might encounter setting up the Friendship Walk.

When: Wednesday, March 27, 3:00–4:30pm
Where: Golden Gate Park Music Concourse Bandshell, 75 Hagiwara Tea Garden Dr. San Francisco
* Park on Martin Luther King Jr Drive @ Music Concourse Drive.

We'll also walk the route so that everyone has a feel for the layout of the entire event. The forecast calls for cloudy skies with temperatures in the high 50's, but it'll still be a nice stroll at Golden Gate Park! Let's get together for a bite somewhere afterward!

March 27 FW Committee Meeting is Cancelled

The Golden Gate Park site visit preempts this Wednesday's scheduled Friendship Walk Committee meeting. But fret not, your subcommittee superhero (AKA your Chair) will be swooping in to catch up with you afterwards with updates and actions so that you can keep making the magic happen!

Team Captain Meet & Greet (Zoom event)

Let's get together on Zoom to get to know the Friendship Walk Team Captains! We'll also share tips with the Team Captains to engage their team members and their donor network.

When: Thursday, March 28, March 28, 6:00–7:00pm
Where: Zoom! 👈tap this link to join the meeting, or enter the following meeting info in Zoom:
    Meeting ID: 886 8227 2930
    Passcode: 693500

This session is focused on building connections with the Team Captains so that they can get the most out of the Best Buddies Friendship Walk experience. I am uber-committed to Best Buddies because its mission aligns with my values, and because of the personal connections and gratifcation I get participating in the Friendship Walk and other programs in Best Buddies. My goal is for everyone to experience the joy that I get from being involved with Best Buddies. Let's make the Team Captains feel welcome and appreciated!

Unfortunately, this session conflicts with the Citizens Social, but we would love for you to join the Team Captain Meet & Greet if you aren't planning to participate in the Citizens Social.

This week's Friendship Walk Challenge

Final Team Challenge

This is the last Team Challenge of the season. The team that raises the most money between Monday 3/25 and Friday 3/29 midnight will win a custom team banner to represent their team while they walk. Note this is not the overall top fundraising team by the end of the week but the team that raises the most just this week, so any team can win, including yours!

👉Tip: Post a Fundraising Bingo card on social meda for a fun way to engage your supporters!

Progress toward our goals

We're making steady progress toward our goals, but we'll need to make a push to get there in our final weeks!

As of a few hours ago, we're at 52% of our revenue goal:

$70,701  $135,000

We are at 61% of our participant goal:

396  650

Let's motivate our teams to compete in this week's challenge and get folks fired up for an epic final challenge during Walk Week!
