Happy Best Buddies Month! What started in 1993 as a one-day event has become a month-long celebration promoting one-to-one friendships, integrated employment, leadership development, and inclusive living for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). There are many ways to celebrate Best Buddies Month:
- Raise awareness by wearing your Best Buddies Gear,
- Pledge to spead inclusion,
- Share your Best Buddies story on Social Media,
- Join e-Buddies or the Citizens program,
- Sign up for a Best Buddies Challenge,
- See "Champions" in theaters March 10
I would love for you to do all the above, but I would especially like you to sign up for the Friendship Walk, taking place on April 22, from 8:30 AM–noon at beautiful Golden Gate Park.
Your team, team_name, was among 551 walkers in 89 teams at last year's Friendship Walk that raised nearly $142,000 to celebrate inclusion and enabled Best Buddies to directly create opportunities for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). In the Bay Area, Best Buddies currently has 40 school chapters in the Friendship program, serves 67Jobs program participants, and provides leadership opportunities to 60 Best Buddies State Ambassadors. This is made possible by your participation and others like you.
Our goal for 2023 is to add 10 new school chapters, place 11 new individuals in fulfilling jobs, and mentor 6 new participants to become Best Buddies Ambassadors. Your participation in this year's Friendship Walk will help us reach our goal!
I hope that you'll participate again this year and get your friends and family to join your team! This will be my nth year participating in the Friendship Walk, and I am leading a team of friends and family to walk with me. I hope we'll see you and your team there!

During Best Buddies Month, you and your team will have a chance to win exclusive prizes by competing in fundraising or awareness-building challenges. You may have to be registered in order to receive emails about the weekly challenges, so register and create your team today! Prizes will be revealed every Monday throughout March. This week's challenge is to be the team with the highest number of team members (it's cumulative so team members who signed up pre-challenge will count).
Please contact me if you are not receiving the Friendship Walk emails, or have any questions about setting up your team page, recruiting friends and colleagues, or have any questions about this year's Friendship Walk. As a BBFW 2023 committee volunteer, I'll be your main contact for support related to the Friendship Walk. I attached a flyer that you can share with others to join your team. The Best Buddies Friendship Walk is the number one walk in the country raising awareness and funds to support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). The Friendship Walk plays a key role in funding the Best Buddies programs that create opportunities for one-to-one friendships, leadership development, and integrated job opportunities for people with IDD. The Friendship Walk is an amazing celebration of inclusion for individuals of all abilities!
This is the perfect opportunity for organization_or_company to join Best Buddies to ensure everyone has the opportunity for friendship, employment, and to have a voice of their own in the community.

I am excited that you registered to lead team_name for this year's Best Buddies Friendship Walk (BBFW)! Your team will be essential to achieving our goal of raising $160,000 to celebrate inclusion and enable Best Buddies to directly create more opportunities for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). In 2022, Best Buddies opened 17 new school chapters, served 239 Jobs program participants, and provided 144 Best Buddies State Ambassadors with leadership opportunities. These advancements were made possible by the $141,860+ we raised at last year’s walk!
Our goal for 2023 is to add 10 new school chapters, place 11 new individuals in fulfilling jobs, and mentor 6 new participants to become Best Buddies Ambassadors. Your participation in this year's Friendship Walk will help us increase the impact of our mission to educate, empower, and instill a culture of inclusion in our communities.
This will be my nth year participating in the Friendship Walk, and I am leading a team of friends and family to walk with me. I look forward to seeing you and your team there!
